Butterfly Stool (Palisander)
Sori Yanagi created his lyrical Butterfly as a synthesis of East and West. The stool has a frame comprising of two identical pressure-shaped and reinforced plywood elements in a maple finish. The traditional technique of veneer cutting ensures that each side of the seating surface exactly mirrors the grain of the other side, making each stool a unique piece. The two pieces are connected by two screws and a detachable chrome strap. The Butterfly Stool in rosewood is no longer manufactured for environmental reasons; it is now made in moulded palisander plywood which is made from renewable resources.
